2025 Piano Competition

Pre-selection (Video only)

Candidates must send the following to the official website of the Fondation prior to November 1st, 2024:

  • a CV
  • a color photo
  • a link to a video hosted on YouTube, Dailymotion or Viméo
  • registration fees: USD 80 or 80€ by bank transfer or cheque

Applicants must have been born between 1992 and 2009 (16 – 33 years old)

Pre-selection by video only before November 1st, 2024:

  1. Chopin    Sonata in B-flat minor n° 2 (1st  and  4th movements without repeats)

  2. Chopin    Étude Op. 10 2  or  Étude Op. 25 6

  3. Fauré       Impromptu Op. 31 n° 2 in F minor or  Prokofiev   Scherzo Op. 12 n° 10 in A minor

30 candidates from the pre-selection will qualify to take part in the eliminatory round.


Eliminatory round

From Tuesday, March 25 to Thursday, March 27, 2025 – Conservatoire Claude Debussy (Paris 75017)

  • Chopin     Sonata in B-flat minor n° 2 (1st  and  4th movements without repeats)

  • Fauré        Impromptu Op. 31 n° 2 in F minor or  Prokofiev   Scherzo Op. 12 n° 10 in A minor

  • A work of your choice (maximum 8 minutes)

Among these 30 candidates, 10 will qualify for the semi-finals


Semi-finals

Friday March 28, 2025 – Conservatoire Claude Debussy (Paris 75017)

  • A 40 minute program of your choice

  • Set work : Chopin – Étude Op. 10 2  or  Étude Op. 25 6

Among the 10 semi-finalists, 5 will qualify for the Finals with Orchestra

Saturday March 29, 2025

  • 2 p.m. general rehearsal

Finals with the Orchestra of the Republican Guard

Sunday March 30, 2025 – Théâtre National de l’Opéra-Comique

Each finalist will choose to play one out of 8 concerto options accompanied by The Orchestra of the Republican Guard :

Rachmaninov – Concerto n° 3
Brahms – Concerto n° 1
Ravel – Concerto in G
Prokofiev – Concerto n° 3
Tchaïkovsky – Concerto n° 1
Beethoven – Concerto n° 4
Chopin – Concerto n° 2
Saint-Saëns – Concerto n° 2
Mozart – Concerto in C minor  K.491

Followed by the Long-Thibaud 1st Prize Winner’s concert and a “Best of” of the finalists
